Continental Podium TT Tire - Tubular Black-BW Black Chili, 700c x 19mm
Let's talk about friction. Not the kind in your hub and bottom bracket bearings, which is relatively minimal. Rather, especially in the realm of time trialing, your tire choice could be as important as whether or not to wear a teardrop shaped helmet. And Continental builds their Podium TT Tubular Tire with friction reduction, or decreased rolling resistance, foremost in mind. They start with a responsive 180 tpi casing. Since it's a race tire, it doesn't get any extra layers of rubber or Duraskin that would serve to make it heavier. In fact, the tread thickness is reduced in comparison to Continental's typical road racing tires. This minimizes tread deformation under load, making the tires roll faster. And with a minimum thickness of the Black Chili tread rubber, the Podium TT tubular tires are superlight -- 70 grams lighter than Grand Prix 400 tubulars. The Podium TT Tubular Tires are light indeed, but they have a special form of puncture protection in the Vectran Breaker system. Vectran fibers have greater cut resistance than Kevlar, so even though the tire is very light, it has a defense against road debris. After all, what good would it be to have the fastest tire on the race course if it couldn't get you to the finish line? They're available in 700 x 19mm and 700 x 22mm versi...
Continental Sprinter Tubular Road Bicycle Tire with Black Chili (28x22, Tubular, Black)
The specialist for circuit races or the criterium. Its function is in its name. The Sprinter is a fast tire for the shorter road events like criteriums. With a nylon puncture protection breaker it is now even more reliable without losing its terrific rolling qualities. Its flexible casing and the extremely adhesive BlackChili Compound keeps contact with the road even in fast 90 degree bends. With its low weight and good acceleration it is most definitely the fastest tire in the last 400 meters.
Stan's Tire Sealant will stay liquid in a mountain bike tire with a thin casing for two to seven months on average. Riding in arid climates or storing the bike in a hot area will require more frequent monitoring of sealant levels. Special anti-freeze agent.
MICHELIN Power Competition Tire - Clincher Black, 700c x 23mm
A few years after the introduction of its Pro4 tire line, Michelin is attracting attention for the arrival of Pro4's successor, the Power Competition Tire. Power took its time getting here, evolving from Michelin's moto GP tires of the same name, but it looks to have been worth the wait. The entire Power line boasts quantifiable gains compared to its aging predecessor -- delivering improvements in rolling resistance, puncture protection, and grip -- and each different model is built using a slightly different formula to suit it best to its specific discipline. In the case of the Competition, this entails a focus on lower rolling resistance, dependable puncture protection, supple grip for hard cornering, and -- of course -- competition-grade speed. After extensive testing against the Pro4 Service Course tires, Michelin's everyday training tire, the Competition was found to provide a 10-watt improvement in performance, equating to significant time gains at speed. (We'd be remiss if we didn't note that the comparison was between a racing-specific tire and an everyday training tire.) Michelin doesn't give detailed information about the Competition's composition, but we do know that it uses resin-reinforced rubber known as Race Compound to construct the Competition, giving it rolling ...
